Etwas über vier Jahre, nach dem tragischen Tod ihres Ausnahmedrummers Nathan Jonas "Joey" Jordison am 26.07.2021 (ehemals SLIPKNOT, MURDERDOLLS und VIMIC), veröffentlichen SINSAENUM ihren dritten Nackenbrecher. Die 2016 gegründeten, internationalen Death Metal Weirdos, agieren auf "In Devastation" deutlich klarer strukturiert, noch breitgefächerter und noch progressiver, als je zuvor. Hier bemerkt man vom Opener und Titelsong an, einen deutlichen Unterschied zwischen technisch versierter Profiliga und den "unteren Klassen". Die zehn neuen Songs bewegen sich durchgehend auf Spitzenniveau, wurden phasenweise mit Klargesang versehen, packen einen aber nach wie vor mächtig bei den Eiern. Hier zeigt sich, dass das Sextett auch mit den etwas ruhigeren Tönen bestens umgehen kann. Mit seinen arschtighten Twists, sowie aggressivem, bissigem und zupackendem Vocaldoubling ist "In Devastation" ein bockstark inszenierter, moderner Death Metal Roadburner geworden, der sich gegen jegliche aufkeimende Langeweile auflehnt.
Die kräftigen, eindringlichen Gesangseruptionen von Sean Zatorsky (DÅÅTH) und Attila Csihar (MAYHEM, TORMENTOR), verbeißen sich in den verqueren bis dissonanten Leadgitarrenläufe von SINSAENUM-Mastermind Frédéric Leclercq (KREATOR, LOUDBLAST) und dem harten, schranzigen Riffing von Stéphane Buriez. Like a rolling thunder, walzt die zweite Nummer "Cede to Thunder" alles weg, was sich den französischen, amerikanischen und ungarischen Extrem Metallern in den Weg stellt. Heimoths (SETH) Bassläufe und die vertrackten Drumpatterns vom neuen Mann an den Kesseln Andre Joyzi (ehemaliger Jordisons Drum-Tech und langjähriges Mitglied der SINSAENUM Live-Crew), gestalten das 45:48 Minuten wirbelnde "In Devastation" thrashy, groovy 'n' catchy as fucking hell! Und so jagt der dritte Track "Shades of Black" das Adrenalin wie Kerosin durch die Blutbahn. Völlig losgelöst von irdischer Präsenz werden die angestaute Wut und Trauer in nahezu jede freie Sekunde transferiert. Da macht auch das alles andere als obsolete "Obsolete and Broken" keine Ausnahme. SINSAENUM schöpfen einmal mehr aus einem schier niemals versiegenden Quell der Inspiration und sorgen mit Songs wie meinem absoluten Album-Fave "Last Goodbye", mit den cleanen Gesangspassagen die ihnen äußerst gut zu Gesicht stehen, für die nötige Kurzweil. Es ist immer wieder erstaunlich, wie man aus dem beinahe "abgegrasten" Feld noch solche Sounds rauszukitzeln vermag. Gerade Kompositionen wie das stringente, aber spritzige und ordentlich fetzende Combat Metal-Brett "Spiritual Lies", das breite und wuchtig schiebende "Destroyer" oder auch "This Wretched World" zeigen die technische Überlegenheit, mit der die Virtuosen ihre Mitstreiter auf die Plätze verweisen, nur allzu deutlich auf. Immer wieder werden schräge, disharmonische Gitarrenläufe zwischen die höllischen Rhythmen geschoben, die jede Menge Auslauf für sich beanspruchen.
SINSAENUM sorgen trotz der aggressiven Grundstimmung für melodische Strukturen und Refrains, die trotz der genialen, teils progressiven Wendungen, unbeirrt im gleichen Fahrwasser sämtliche Unwegsamkeiten umschiffen und sich im Geiste des Zuhörers frei entfalten können. Produziert und abgemischt wurden die zehn komplexen und facettenreich ausgestalteten Kompositionen vom renommierten deutschen Tontechniker Lasse Lammert (ALESTORM, ARROGANZ, GLORYHAMMER), in den LSD-Studios zu Lübeck. "In Devastation" ist ein endfettes, ausgewogenes und druckvolles Death Metal Bollwerk geworden, das mehr Flow intus hat, als der brasilianische Amazonas. SINSAENUM vereinen Power, Dynamik, technischer Finesse und Spielwitz zu einem mehr als nur gelungenen Gesamtergebnis. This is blackened Death Metal at its best!!!

Just over four years after the tragic death of their exceptional drummer Nathan Jonas "Joey" Jordison (formerly of SLIPKNOT, MURDERDOLLS, and VIMIC) on July 26 th 2021, SINSAENUM release their third neckbreaker. The international death metal weirdos, founded in 2016, perform on "In Devastation" with a much clearer structure, a wider range and with a more progressive approach than ever before. Starting with the opener and title track, one notices a clear distinction between the technically accomplished professional band and the "lower leagues". The ten new songs are consistently at a top level, occasionally featuring clean vocals, but still pack a powerful punch. This demonstrates that the sextet is also perfectly capable of handling the somewhat quieter tones. With its tight twists and its aggressive, biting and gripping vocaldoubling, "In Devastation" has become a powerfully staged, modern death metal roadburner that rebels against any looming boredom.
The powerful, haunting vocal eruptions of Sean Zatorsky (DÅÅTH) and Attila Csihar (MAYHEM, TORMENTOR) dig into the twisted, even dissonant lead guitar lines of SINSAENUM mastermind Frédéric Leclercq (KREATOR, LOUDBLAST) and the hard, slashing riffing of Stéphane Buriez. Like a rolling thunder, the second track "Cede to Thunder" steamrolls away everything in the way of the French, American and Hungarian extreme metallers. Heimoth's (SETH) bass lines and the intricate drum patterns of new drummer Andre Joyzi (former Jordison's drum tech and longtime member of the SINSAENUM live crew) make the 45:48 minute swirling "In Devastation" thrashy, groovy 'n' catchy as hell! And so the third track, "Shades of Black" shoots adrenaline through your bloodstream like kerosene. Completely detached from earthly presence, the pent-up anger and grief are transferred into almost every free second. The anything but obsolete "Obsolete and Broken" is no exception. SINSAENUM once again draw from a seemingly never-ending source of inspiration, providing the necessary diversion with songs like my absolute album favorite, "Last Goodbye", with its clean vocal passages that suit them extremely well. It's always astonishing how one can still tease such sounds out of an almost "over-grazed" field. Especially compositions like the stringent, yet lively and properly shredding combat metal track "Spiritual Lies", the broad and powerful "Destroyer" or "This Wretched World" demonstrate only too clearly the technical superiority with which the virtuosos outshine their competitors. Again and again weird, disharmonious guitar runs are inserted between the hellish rhythms, which take up a lot of space for themselves.
Besides the aggressive tone, SINSAENUM deliver melodic structures and choruses that, despite the ingenious, sometimes progressive twists, unwaveringly navigate all obstacles and are able to unfold freely in the listener's mind. The ten complex and multifaceted compositions were produced and mixed by renowned German sound engineer Lasse Lammert (ALESTORM, ARROGANZ, GLORYHAMMER) at the LSD Studios in Lübeck. "In Devastation" is a fat, balanced and powerful death metal bastion with more flow than the Brazilian Amazon. SINSAENUM combine power, dynamics, technical finesse and playful wit to create a more than just successful overall result. This is blackened death metal at its best!!!
