Die neue 5-Track EP "Bitter Lucid Truth", der North Carolina Hardcore/Black 'n' Roller VALLETTA dürfte für mächtig Wirbel im Undergroundsektor sorgen! Von einer der „mitreißendsten Metal-Veröffentlichungen des Jahres” ist da die Rede und das kann ich in Blut unterschreiben! Das derbe Fourpiece aus Raleigh, mit der assig-rauchigen und gallig-wütenden Hardcore-Kotztüte Keenan Carroll am Mike, entwickelt nämlich einen Wahnsinns-Flow, dem sich kaum jemand zu entziehen vermag. Es sind diese enorm groovigen Hardcore-Rhythmen, die Namensgeber Justin Valletta auf die Felle zimmert, das hart angerissene Badass-Gitarrenwerk von Will Goodyear und Frontkratzbürste Keenan, dass sich tief in die Eingeweide schneidet, sowie die permanent durchdringenden Bassläufe von Cody Rogers, die häufig in omnipräsenter Form aus den Endtöpfen wabern. Während Keenan Carroll in authentischem Rahmen Gift und Galle spuckt, fährt "Bitter Lucid Truth" einen rohen, bittersüßen und sludgigen Beigeschmack auf, der mit facettenreichen, fast schon progressiv-rockigen Bridges, kongenialen Hooklines und verdammt catchy Refrains satt gefüttert ist.
So avanciert die Singleauskopplung "Cold Death", mit ihrem hallunterlegten Gitarrenspiel, sofort zum Hardcore/Rock 'n' Roll Ohrwurm. Bereits der straighte und kompromisslose Einstieg "Blood and Jesus" fährt schwere Geschütze auf, die unmittelbar zum Mähneschwingen einladen. Sämtliche Hardcore-Grooves werden irgendwann auf die rockige Bahn gezogen, was im Falle des vielfältigen Werks "Bitter Lucid Truth" arschtight und mondän in Szene gesetzt worden ist. Twists und melodische Aspekte sind perfekt integriert. Die gesamte Rhythmusfraktion interagiert und harmoniert auf herausragende Weise. Selbst das melancholische, klar gesungene "Doing Well", das nach hinten raus energetisch und powervoll aufdreht, setzt ein deutliches Ausrufezeichen! Das ist effizient, markant und niveauvoll arrangierte Musik die mein Herz berührt und die mit ihrem leicht progressiven Touch, auch nach dem x-ten Durchlauf nicht langweilig wird. Den krönenden Abschluss der spritzigen und vitalen EP bildet die bouncig-thrashige Highspeedknüppelorgie "Spitting the Word" mit ihren fetzigen und schartigen Gitarren. Ein Song "as dirty as a 10-£-bitch"!
Aufgenommen und abgemischt von Al Jacob (HE IS LEGND, WAILIN STORMS) im Warrior Sound Studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, produziert von TJ Childers von Inter Arma und gemastert von Matt Tuttle (CODESEVEN) in den IAS Studios zu Winston-Salem (ebenfalls North Carolina), ist das 19:07 Minuten fightende "Bitter Lucid Truth" bis dato mein Jahreshighlight 2025! Das Teil fegt mich sogar noch mehr, als das diesjährige Monumentalwerk "Colossal", der Dänen BAEST. Ich bin sehr gespannt, was da von VALLETTA künftig noch so alles kommen mag. Eine Europarundreise, sowie die Wiederveröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums "Summer" (2024) sind für 2026 bereits gewiss. So hold your breath! This Full Stack Metal from Raleigh, NC beats some almighty punches in ya fuckin` face!!!

The new 5-track EP "Bitter Lucid Truth" by North Carolina hardcore/black 'n' roller VALLETTA is sure to cause quite a stir in the underground scene! They're calling it one of the "most thrilling metal releases of the year" and I can sign in blood for that! The rugged four-piece from Raleigh, featuring the smoky, bilious, and furiously angry hardcore puke-bag Keenan Carroll on the mike, develops an incredible flow that hardly anyone can resist. It's the incredibly groovy hardcore rhythms that namesake Justin Valletta hammers onto the drums, the hard-hitting, badass guitar work of Will Goodyear and frontman Keenan that cuts deep into your gut, as well as the constantly penetrating bass lines of Cody Rogers, which often waft out of the mufflers in an omnipresent form. While Keenan Carroll spits venom and bile in an authentic way, "Bitter Lucid Truth" delivers a raw, bittersweet, and sludgy aftertaste, richly padded with multifaceted, almost progressive-rock bridges, congenial hooks and damn catchy choruses.
The single "Cold Death" with its reverb-laden guitar playing, immediately becomes a hardcore/rock 'n' roll earworm. The straightforward and uncompromising opening track, "Blood and Jesus," brings out the big guns, immediately inviting you to bang your head. All the hardcore grooves eventually shift into a rocking direction, which, in the case of the multifaceted "Bitter Lucid Truth," is presented in a tight and sophisticated manner. Twists and melodic aspects are perfectly integrated. The entire rhythm section interacts and harmonizes outstandingly. Even the melancholic, clearly sung "Doing Well" which builds up to energetic and powerful energy towards the end, makes a clear statement! This is efficient, distinctive and sophisticated music that touches my heart and, with its slightly progressive touch, doesn't get boring even after the umpteenth listen. The crowning conclusion of the lively and vital EP is the bouncy, thrashy, high-speed thrashing orgy "Spitting the Word" with its crazy and jagged guitars. A song "as dirty as a 10-£-bitch"! Recorded and mixed by Al Jacob (HE IS LEGND, WAILIN STORMS) at Warrior Sound Studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, produced by TJ Childers of Inter Arma and mastered by Matt Tuttle (CODESEVEN) at IAS Studios in Winston-Salem (also North Carolina), the 19:07-minute fighting "Bitter Lucid Truth" is my highlight of 2025 so far! This one blows me away even more than this year's monumental death 'n' roll work "Colossal" by the Danish Deathers BAEST. I'm very excited to see what else VALLETTA has in store in the future. A European round trip and the re-release of their debut album "Summer" (2024) are planned for 2026. So hold your breath!
