Seit nunmehr 37 Jahren sind VOMITORY Garanten für hochklassigen Death Metal. Da macht auch das zehnte Death-Brett "In Death Throes", des schwedischen Four-Piece aus Karlstad, keinerlei Ausnahme. In den Todesqualen befinden sich VOMITORY also mitnichten, denn genau das bedeutet der Titel ihres neuen Vollwerks. In einer gesunden Mischung aus BLOODBATH und CANNIBAL CORPSE, also in einer homogenen Symbiose aus Elchtod und Ami-Death, hat mich das druckvolle und differenzierte "In Death Throes" vielmehr bereits beim ersten Durchgang zur Gänze überzeugen können. Straight, ausgeklügelt und groovebeladen haben die skandinavischen Extrem Metal Connaisseurs zehn arschtighte und unschlagbare Death Metal Songs, in die Tonspuren gedengelt. Präzises Fast-Pace-Drumming, zackiges, schartiges Riffing, kompromisslos gutturales Gore-Grunting, sowie die saftig angerissenen Basssaiten machen diesen Output zu einem neuerlichen Hochgenuss.
Das kernige Geballer, des brutalen Kahlschlags "In Death Throes", wurde mit manischer Hingabe in die Tonspuren gedengelt. Die Recordingsessions des Schwergewichts, welches 37:10 Minuten auf die Waage bringt, wurden Ende 2025 in mehreren schwedischen Studios vorgenommen. Wobei sich Rikard Löfgren, der Besitzer und Gründer der Karlstädter Leon Music Studios, für das Recording des Schlagzeugs von Ballermaschine Tobias Gustafsson, sowie des derben Gesangs von Frontkotztüte und Bassaxtschwinger Erik Rundqvist verantwortlich zeigte. Das neurotische Gitarrenwerk von Urban Gustafsson und Lead-Gitarrist Christian Fredriksson, sowie Rundqvists niederfrequent prattelnde Streitaxt wurden hingegen in den Goff Studios unter der Leitung von Toningenieur und Gitarrist Christian Fredriksson himself aufgenommen. Fredriksson trat erstmals Ende 2022 auf dem Vorgängeralbum "All Heads Are Gonna Roll" in Erscheinung, dem er den Großteil der Gitarrensoli spendierte. Seit Januar 2025 zählt er offiziell zum festen VOMITORY-Inventar. Mix und Master zu "In Death Throes" stammen erneut von Lawrence Mackrory (BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, LIK), aus den Rorysound Studios zu Uppsala. Herausgekommen ist ein fetter und fleischiger Sound, der noch immer von der enormen Power und dem Elan des 1989 gegründeten Quartetts zeugt. VOMITORY haben ihr derbes Stahlgewitter, trotz nahezu perma-straight-forward Programm abwechslungsreich ausgearbeitet. Das coole und zu "In Death Throes" wie die Faust aufs Auge passende Artwork stammt, wie bereits beim Vorgänger "All Heads Are Gonna Roll", aus der Feder des griechischen Künstlers Giannis Nakos (CRYPTOPSY, EVERGREY, SUFFOCATION) von Remedy Art Design. Also ich kann jetzt schon prognostizieren, dass das neue VOMITORY Album "In Death Throes" zu einem echten Meilenstein im Death Metal-Bereich avancieren wird! Both thumbs up!!!

For 37 years now, VOMITORY has been a guarantee of top-notch death metal. Their tenth death-borad "In Death Throes", by the Swedish four-piece from Karlstad, is no exception. VOMITORY is by no means in the throes of death, for that is precisely what the title of their new full-length album signifies. With a healthy mix of BLOODBATH and CANNIBAL CORPSE, a seamless blend of Moose-death and Ami-death, the powerful and nuanced "In Death Throes" had me completely won over from the very first listen. Straightforward, sophisticated, and groovy, these Scandinavian extreme metal connoisseurs have hammered ten rock-solid and unbeatable death metal songs into the audio tracks. Precise fast-paced drumming, jagged, choppy riffing, uncompromising guttural gore-grunting, and the juicy, snarling bass lines make this release a fresh treat.
The raw, pounding sound of the brutal clear-cutting "In Death Throes" was hammered into the audio tracks with manic dedication. The recording sessions for the heavyweight, which clocks in at 37 minutes and 10 seconds, took place in late 2025 at several Swedish studios. Rikard Löfgren, the owner and founder of Karlstad’s Leon Music Studios, was responsible for recording the drums of firing machine Tobias Gustafsson, as well as the raw vocals of frontman and bass-ax-slinger Erik Rundqvist. The neurotic guitar work of Urban Gustafsson and lead guitarist Christian Fredriksson, as well as Rundqvist’s low-frequency chattering battle axe, were recorded at Goff Studios under the direction of sound engineer and guitarist Christian Fredriksson himself. Fredriksson first appeared on the previous album "All Heads Are Gonna Roll" in late 2022, contributing the majority of the guitar solos. Since January 2025, he has officially been a permanent member of VOMITORY. The mixing and mastering for "In Death Throes" were once again handled by Lawrence Mackrory (BLOODBATH, KATATONIA, LIK) at Rorysound Studios in Uppsala. The result is a thick and meaty sound that still bears witness to the enormous power and vigor of the quartet, founded in 1989. VOMITORY have crafted their raw steel storm with plenty of variety, despite a nearly permanently straightforward approach. The cool artwork, which fits "In Death Throes" like a glove, was created, just like on the previous album "All Heads Are Gonna Roll", by Greek artist Giannis Nakos (CRYPTOPSY, EVERGREY, SUFFOCATION) of Remedy Art Design. I can already predict that the new VOMITORY album "In Death Throes" will become a true milestone in the death metal scene! Both thumbs up!!!
